HIKING AT HIJI WATERFALLS UP NORTH IN NAGO

Hello Hello, Okinawa new comers!

Needless to say, Okinawa has one of the most popular and beautiful beaches throughout Asia. Although, no matter how beautiful the ocean front sunset view from your balcony is, if  thats your your everyday view, you get a little used to it (to be honest). Thats why for those who want that excitment feeling, today I will introduce you Okinawa`s popular hiking/camping forest.

First the Hiji waterfalls up in the northern side of the island is a place where you can enjoy the true nature of Okinawa. The population density is extremely low so the oxygen you breath in feels really good. You can feel that the air is not polluted as it is in the cities. If you live in the Chatan area, I assume you already enjoyed the ocean view at its full.  So, if your seeking into some other stress releiving hobby, exploring the real nature forest  is a great option.  Hiji Water Falls in Kunigami village is a must-to-go spot before you PCS from Okinawa!

I also have another spot popular for hiking, jogging, camping and barbeques. The hiji water falls is about an hour and a half drive from Kadena Air Base. For some of you that might be a little too far. Thats where the Okinawa Muli-purpose Athletic Park comes in!

This is another hot spot for families who have just moved to Okinawa. The Okinawa athletic park is in Okinawa city just near the Awase area.

This park has all of the following features - 2 huge gymnasiums, tennis courts, a drive-in camping zone with barbecue hatches, a rental-cycle service, a rental paddle boat you can ride through the pond filled with Koi fishes, and next to the park there is the Okinawa`s biggest water slide park. 

This Okinawa athletic park is only 10~15 min away from Camp Foster Legion Gate and roughly around 15~20min from Kadena Gate 1.

So the commute to the park is not quite that long as it may seem.
